Meet the Team at Detroit IT

The seven-strong Detroit IT team share a passion for technology and problem solving. Each individual brings extensive knowledge and a unique personality, that, when combined, make Detroit IT the superior choice in the IT service industry.

Meet the folks behind the computers!

eric-detroit-itEric G, Chief Technology Officer. He is responsible for aligning the customers’ technical needs with their business goals. Eric received his bachelor’s degree in management information systems from Oakland University. He also hopes to attend law school one day.

  1. Why did you go into IT?

I’ve been interested in technology from a very young age. When I was little my parents would find me taking the TV remote apart and trying to put it back together. In going to business school, I was able to align that passion for technology with the business aspect.

  1. What’s your favorite thing to work on?

Any problem that no one else can solve – I like the challenge.

  1. What’s the nerdiest thing you do in your free time?

I try not to be nerdy in my free time. I prefer the outdoors when I’m not at work.

  1. If you could rid the Earth of one thing, what would it be?

Bad tech support and frustration due to technology issues.

  1. What are a few things on your bucket list?
  • My girlfriend and I hope to visit every country without visiting any more than once.
  • Buy a house on the ocean.

mike-detroit-itMike S, Systems Engineer. He is responsible for managing daily ticket queues, as well as solving urgent and high-priority issues. Mike completes most of the on-site service work as well as projects that require travel.

Mike has been with Detroit IT and Core3 Solutions for more than seven years. He earned his bachelor’s degree in business from Walsh College in 2011.

  1. Why did you go into IT?

To turn my hobby into my career.

  1. What’s the nerdiest thing you do in your free time?

Mine, buy and sell virtual currencies. (Bitcoin, Litecoin and Dogecoin,)

  1. If you could rid the Earth of one thing, what would it be?

Printer issues.

  1. If you could live the life of anyone (real or fictional) who would it be?

Abraham Lincoln.

  1. What are a few things on your bucket list?
  • Visit European countries. (France, Poland, Russia).
  • Spend an extended period of time in Japan.
  • Come up with a better bucket list.

john-detroit-itJohn D, Lead Problem Solver/Interactive Support Specialist. He handles incoming inquiries from the help desk to problem solve and resolve issues for clients. John also assists with wiring cabling projects, on-site training and demos, and deployment for group devices.

John earned a double associate’s degree from Macomb Community College, and a bachelor’s degree in network information technology administration from Eastern Michigan University. He has an extensive customer service background and combined that experience with his education to find his perfect fit in IT support.

  1. Why did you go into IT?

I wanted to be able to use technology to help people be more productive.

  1. What’s the coolest thing you’ve learned about technology thus far?

How to use software to remotely support devices.

  1. If you could live the life of anyone (real or fictional) who would it be?

Adam Levine.

  1. Would you rather have a lightsaber or the Iron Man suit?

Iron Man suit.

  1. What are a few things on your bucket list?
  • Skydive.
  • Run with bulls.
  • Travel Europe.

dave-detroit-itDave G, Help Desk Specialist. He is responsible for fielding client tickets as they’re submitted online. He also spends a majority of his time handling phone calls as they come in and helping these customers resolve their issues.

Dave earned his degree in political science, with an emphasis on foreign conflict and voting behavior in the United States, from (as he prefers to say) “THEE University of Michigan – GO BLUE!”

  1. Why did you go into IT?

I love technology – in an almost creepy way…

  1. What’s the coolest thing you’ve learned about technology thus far?

I think the cloud technology is awesome, and learning about that has been really great. The cloud is the future!

  1. If you could live the life of anyone (real or fictional) who would it be?

The Queen of England.

  1. Would you rather have a lightsaber or the Iron Man suit?

Iron Man suit – with built in lightsabers.

  1. What are a few things on your bucket list?
  • Visit every country in the world.
  • Write a screenplay.
  • Be in a movie.

stephanie-detroit-itStephanie M, Administrative Assistant. She is currently working on her associate’s degree in business administration at Oakland Community College. Next summer, her associate’s will be complete, and she’ll be transferring to Walsh College or Oakland University to pursue an undecided bachelor’s degree.

At Detroit IT, Stephanie keeps the team organized and on schedule. She keeps track of help desk tickets to make sure they’re resolved, schedules the team’s on-site visits, follows up with clients to ensure satisfaction and orders the required materials for each project.

  1. Why did you go into IT?

While I am part of the IT team, I am not tech savvy at all. I’m actually in school for business, but am currently just learning more about the IT world.

  1. What’s your favorite thing to work on?

Cleaning out Eric’s car, or trying to find something the IT guys seem to have lost.

  1. What’s the coolest thing you’ve learned about technology thus far?

That I was able to complete one help desk ticket since I started.

  1. What’s the nerdiest thing you do in your free time?

Working out or homework – sadly I’m still in school.

  1. What are a few things on your bucket list?
  • Travel to Italy.
  • Buy a house.

quinton-detroit-itQuinton M, IT Intern. Quinton is a recent high school graduate. Before coming to Detroit IT, he had an internship in Plymouth. He is currently learning the customers’ systems and assisting with help desk inquiries and on-site problem solving.

  1. Why did you go into IT?

Computers are fun!

  1. What’s your favorite thing to work on?

Resolving tech issues at prisons.

  1. If you could rid the Earth of one thing, what would it be?

Internet Explorer.

  1. What’s the nerdiest thing you do in your free time?

Re-enact the Civil War.

  1. What are a few things on your bucket list?
  • Jump out of an airplane.
  • Visit Europe proper.
